2017 Cheer Camp
This year, the little girls’ cheer camp was held from August 7-9. Forty girls from incoming kindergarten to sixth grades attended the session. They played games, learned cheers and a dance and perfected their stunts. They are split into two groups, the little girls and the big girls. The young cheerleaders will perform at the end of the camp on Wednesday August 9 and at the Homecoming Pep Rally.

Celebration of Life
Rita Woetovech, longtime Nazareth resident, celebrated her 89 birthday in a special way this past Sunday. Though Rita is currently a resident at Castro County Nursing & Rehabilitation in Dimmitt, her son Glen Kleman arranged to have an afternoon celebration for her at one of her former homes in the village. The party was hosted by Mark and Vera Hoelting, current owners of the home that formerly belonged to Joe and Blanche Birkenfeld in Nazareth, a quarter-mile south of Holy Family Church on St. Mary’s Street. The celebration brought together nearly 40 “first cousins” mostly from Nazareth, Amarillo, Canyon, and the Lubbock area, to celebrate their Aunt Rita’s birthday, along with several old friends. Everyone enjoyed seeing the marvelous renovation that preserved many features of the original home, and reminiscing about family Christmas parties and other occasions that brought them to Grandpa Joe and Grandma Blanche’s house. It was as if time stood still for a few hours, and the living and deceased were rejoined in a brief communion, that will be made perfect and eternal one day in heaven.
