Nazareth FFA places 16th overall at the National FFA Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

Members of the Nazareth FFA Chapter recently competed in the FFA Career Development Event at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo. FFA members who represented the chapter in the event included Ellen Schilderink, Emily Heitschmidt, Lars Schilderink, Lexy Ethridge, Mike Schilderink and Brady Robb. The team placed 16th overall and competed against all state champions in the dairy cattle evaluation contest.

Dairy cattle evaluation and management is one of 24 national CDE areas, covering job skills in everything from communications to mechanics. Members put the skills learned in their high school agricultural education classes to use in a practical manner. Participants evaluate multiple classes of dairy cattle and present oral reasons for their selections. Teams work together to develop a comprehensive management plan for a farm described in a given scenario. CDEs help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly and perform effectively in a competitive job market.

Congratulations to all of these students on a job well done!
