NAZARETH HOMECOMING WEEK 2016

The town and people of Nazareth, including the students, parents, teachers, and fans, were kept busy September 26-30 with fun activities that made up the 2016 Homecoming Week.

With a different theme for each day, students and staff participated by dressing up in outfits including ’Merica Monday, Texas Tuesday, Wilderness Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and Football Friday to show their school spirit. High school students participated in the annual painting of the streets by decorating the road in front of the school with spray painted names. Tuesday night, the students played in a powderpuff volleyball game, where the girls were the players and the boys served as cheerleaders, referees and team coaches.

Thursday night began with a big crowd at the Home and School’s chili supper followed by the parade led by the Nazareth Swift Band that brought all the fans to Swift Stadium for the Homecoming Pep Rally. The exciting night consisted of many cheers and dances from high school and junior high cheerleaders as well as the younger girls who attended cheer camp in August. Former Spirit Queen Roxanne Wilhelm was home to crown the 2016 Spirit King and Queen, Waylon Leavitt and Carlie Heiman.

Before the game on Friday the Homecoming court processed the field. Freshman Maddie Smith, sophomore Chandler Schulte, and junior Kinzi Cleavinger were members of the court and the senior candidates were Tarah Hill, Abby Schmucker, and Allie Schulte. Voted by high school students, Abby Schmucker was announced 2016 Homecoming Queen and was crowned by former queen Morgan Nelson.

The Swifts fought for a victory over the Kress Kangaroos 66-8 to bring an end to the special week.
