Learning in the Great Outdoors

Last week at Ogallala Commons Playa Classroom, 5th graders from Nazareth and Kress schools participated in a Playa Festival.  The students learned about insects and animals that use playas, while also getting a chance to view of Harris hawk.  Youth seem to be spending increasingly less time outdoors. Taking some time to understand and explore the natural environment is essential, if we expect future generations to be good stewards of our natural resources.  Thanks to Running Water Draw Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Tule Creek SWCD for sponsoring our Festival.
