Superintendent Speech — Get on the Bus Through Proverbs

glenwaldo

Superintendent Glen Waldo welcomes the students and parents.

Get on the Bus:  Driver—First person to greet you at pickup

Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding.  Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success               -Proverbs 3:5-6.

For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding                   -Proverbs 2:6.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed -Proverbs 16:3.

We often are confronted with situations we don’t fully understand.  God will guide your path.  You should study his Word and be ever-watchful for His signs.

Get in the Right Seat

When you get on the bus, there may be many open seats.  You should surround yourself with others who are an encouragement and help you.

He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm -Proverbs 13:20.

Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance -Proverbs 1:5.

Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord -Proverbs 16:20.

When you arrive at the inevitable crossroads of life, there will be wise men and women to guide us if we let them.  If you are willing to listen and to learn, then you too will become wise.  Teachers, parents and older peers are here to help guide. Someone may sit with you.  Be an encouragement and give wise advice.

The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment -Proverbs 10:21.

Life is a team sport, and all of us need occasional pats on the back from our teammates.  We are called to be a messenger of encouragement and hope.

Slow Down and Watch for Danger

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it-Proverbs 22:3.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty -Proverbs 21:5.

We live in a fast paced world.  Our circumstances change, our relationships change; our bodies change.  We get older every day, but our Driver does not change.

Off the Bus:  Driver—Last person to see you off safely at drop-off

Now that we have arrived at our destination you are about to get off the bus.

But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.  -Proverbs 1:33

With the right driver, on the right bus, in the right seat and right mindset, you will “Enjoy the Ride.”

MONSANTO GRANT SENDS TEACHERS TO STATE CONFERENCE

Nazareth ISD has received a $10,000 grant from America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The district used the money to send teachers to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Resource state conference and will also subscribe to the TEKS Resource System, an online curriculum management system that will allow the district to align with state standards.

With the revised mathematics curriculum scheduled for implementation at the high school in the 2015-2016 school year, the training provided teachers with the most current instructional tactics and connected them with fellow teachers for collaboration, promoting greater student success.

“Teachers who attended the conference learned strategies they can integrate into their curriculum using technology, cooperative learning and games to keep students engaged in the classroom,” said Superintendent Glen Waldo. “Our teachers are now even better equipped to offer the instruction that students need to be college- and career-ready when they graduate.”

Farmers who nominated the school district and representatives from the school and the Monsanto Fund attended a check presentation to celebrate the grant during the annual Meet the Swifts and Swiftettes event Aug. 20.
