After receiving his first cash prize of $1,000 last week, Jake Waldo immediately sat down with People Bank employee, Tanya Ethridge, to open an account in order to save his money to by that riding lawn mower that he needs to grow his business or a car. Gaining a better sense of financial literacy is another benefit that comes with competing in the Youth Entrepreneur Fair.

Thank You from Stephens

“Being thankful is something I take seriously all year long.  However, it seems this time of year we become publically thankful for all the good in our lives.  My heartfelt thanks goes to the Holy Family Church and Nazareth community for giving me the opportunity to work with Fr. Ken with the church and community’s history.  Researching and uncovering unknown history of the church and community has been an incredible experience for me.

Traveling to Fort Smith and Subiaco, Arkansas, earlier this year increased my appreciation for your community and the church.  Subiaco Abbey made the journey worth it in so many ways.  It was by far my best experience during this research process.  Visiting the Abbey where the early priests who served Nazareth came from was spiritual for me on many levels; especially walking the cemetery that Fr. Conrad Herda built for the Subiaco priests was humbling.  Meeting Fr. Hugh, the archivist at Subiaco Abbey made the trip!  He had continually filled my post office box for over two months with materials on the early priests who served the Nazareth church during its formative and early years.

Thank you again for the opportunity to research and write about your history.  I hope each of you is looking forward to reading the forthcoming books.  Special heartfelt thanks to Fr. Ken for being the best boss I have ever had.  How many scholars can say they have had a Priest for a boss?  Happy Thanksgiving to each of you!”
